HIS ADVENTURES
Very early, he was passionate about music. He liked singing too much. Moreover, to make the task easy, he began by learning the instruments. He learned to play the guitar, as it was his favorite instrument, was the rhythm guitar.
For more about him, let us read the interview below:
RICH: How are you, Hubert
HUBERT: Hey Richard, I’m doing very well as a fish in the water.
RICH: Hubert, can you tell me about yourself in a few words?
HUBERT: Of course, but before I go any further, I would like to introduce myself; my name is AMANI DONKH HUBRASON. You would ask me of course why these names and where is Hubert here? I would answer that, according to the Constitution of any country, I am free and allowed to change my name if it contains a sense of contempt or mockery. When I was born, the names that were given to me were KYUMA (iron) KASEKELO (object of mockery in Bemba, Tabwa and others) Hubert. Therefore, I could not stand this nonsense.
RICH: then what does AMANI DONKH HUBRASON mean?
HUBERT: AMANI = peace, DONKH is the combination of Donnacien (my namesake), KASEKELO (my father’s name) Hubert (my first name) And Hubrason is a nickname that I just invented since my childhood, and so, I could not let it down.
RICH: Tell us about your life.
HUBERT: You know, Richard, being a motherless orphan since your early age, is a very shocking situation. I have not known maternal love, as you see me here. I grew up in an environment where you could only see the bread through the window, you do not know when Christmas or Happy New Year is, and you do not have any idea. You only see the chicken bone when the neighbors are about to throw the filth. When you see your friends in uniform, you start asking yourself questions, “what does it help”, the same clothes, even shoes. A little illusion, you see! Your new clothe is what is left up your roommates or neighbors’ children.
RICH: That’is pitiful!
HUBERT: That is the factor of life, Rich!
RICH: how could you handle all that?
HUBERT: Rich, at the age of four I parted from my mother, at nine, the war separates me from my family. Imagine the scene a little, Rich! You are a parent; you really know the meaning of suffering and more especially when you have no parents. If you want to get an idea, go ask orphans, they will tell you more than what I just told you.
RICH: Tell me about your separation.
HUBERT: The first one, my parents divorced for the reasons I cannot explain since I was still a 4-year-kid. For the second one, we were in Congo with my father and with all my family. The war broke out in the Congo, we were separated, I found myself in Kalemie and the rest of my family fled to Zambia.
RICH: Hubert, your story gives me tears. Nevertheless, how did you get to where you are today, without parents, who financed your studies?
HUBERT: Listen, Mr. Richard, everything you see here, and the person who speaks to you here, is a fruit of grace. If you have never seen God, see him from me.
I lived with the suffering: it means, I walked with the suffering, I ate with the suffering, I slept with the suffering, I bathed with the suffering, I dressed the suffering, in short I was myself “suffering”.
Finally, I would say that God alone has financed my studies.
My father and my Grade 3 teacher had funded my elementary studies. In high school, my father and other unidentified people.
In Grade 6, which is equivalent here in Zambia to the 3rd year at the College, despite the Grade 12 status, it was a certain Territory Chief and Moise Katumbi Chapwe who finally paid my State Examination fees to which I say sincerely thank you.
OF YOUR MUSICAL CAREER...
Before talking about the professional career, I would like to tell you that I am a Christian, that’s the first point.
I think that my religious course is a little different from the others, on the point that, if you ask a good number of Christian musicians, they will tell you that they started singing in a Catholic choir, or in a profane orchestra.
However, as for me, ” My Case Is Different ”. I have never sung in a Catholic choir, nor in a secular orchestra, nor been a Catholic Christian, that was not my case. However, I could participate in Catholic cults only when the school required it, because I did most of my studies in Catholic schools, that’s why I received a good education than those who in public schools. This, you will not disagree (laugh!). For it was the Catholic priests who dispensed almost all the courses, especially the French, English, Latin, Philosophy, Geography, History and Civic Education courses, even from Manuel’s Work.
RICH: Hubert, tell me, what do you specifically do in music? Do you sing? Do you play the drums? Do you preach? Do you play tam-tam?
HUBERT: Rich, thanks for the question. I am a nature singer.
I have received from God a special and privileged gift! I can play all the guitars: bass, solo, rhythm guitar and mid-lead, I am able to perform with the keyboard, although I am still not professional enough, but the level I have reached, allows me to do without suffering.
I do not sing only, I write, I compose, I arrange and I sing. By the grace of God, I am a ready-made artist. On stage, I have no problem; I can pack you into music and bring you to an unexpected level. Added to that, the Poetry and Performance I learned helped me a lot in this career.
Hubert, when did you actually start the music? and where is it?
RICH: Who are your idol artists?
HUBERT: By the way, Mr. Richard, I really like Jojo Mwangaza, I think I’m the only one who can sing all his songs. Thanks to his songs, I improved myself.
He is the only musician I knew well and had all the info.
RICH: When did you start your music?
HUBERT: I started singing in a Choir of the Sunday School choir in a Pentecostal Church in Zambia, North. It was in 2004.
As soon as I started, I became involved in the rhythm of the band and was able to compose hymns.
In 2006, I wrote my first opus about repentance and the day I sung it, people cried at the church, because the message was touching and meaningful. This song was about the prodigal son. But the way I’d sung it and the comments I added to it was what made people cry, given my age and talent, added to that, the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
When we had to perform publicly, I was always at the line of attack. I danced and sang very well. It is not pride. The truth has to be said, Rich.
For your question of where I started my music.
I started my music here in Zambia, still in the Northern Province, because that’s where I spent a lot of time and my teenage years.
RICH: Achievements
HUBERT: I started recording my first songs in Kasumbalesa, at PM Sound Studio (whom I greet by the way) in 2014, but suddenly I couldn’t go far with the project because of some reasons, this project fell out of date. However, I still keep the songs.
In 2017, in Solwezi, I started recording with Sister Rose Trey, we recorded two songs, but the Sound engineer lost all the data and this project remained unresolved until these days, but I still keep samples.
Lately, I was recording my official first Album of eight (8) tracks. Thank you Enock Mbewe, my producer, Mafikiri Kilasi my Guitarist and all those who gave me advice.
RICH: What difficulties did you encounter?
HUBERT: First, when people don’t understand your vision and nobody to support you, know that you are in trouble. It is a problem, Rich
In my career, I’ve experienced slopes, uphills, descents, falls, all kinds of braking and blocking.
You know in life, Richard, when you are at the beginning of doing something, since others misunderstand it, do it alone. A wise man said: ‘’If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, be in a group’’.
I believe you agree with me. Since you started your project of RECYCLING Digest and other stuff, no one has come to your help. But you’ll see, after it’s successful, the sponsors will come on their own.
Listen, recently, I had to deliver a live concert in my own church where I play instruments, but you have to see, Rich, no more than 5 members of the church who came to my concert. On the physical level, this is a disappointment. You present your project to the apostolate, he agrees, but people do not come to support you, to tell the truth, it demotivates spiritually!
I never had a Sponsor no outside help, no Manager, but myself with God, this is a big challenge in the career of a Musician. Ask those who started before me, they will tell you more.
RICH: But they sent you an envelope, anyway?
I swear in the name of everyone that I have received nothing from the church except permission to use the opera and the instruments.
In the end, my instrumentalists told me to leave the church because you do not love me. It was real, but I cannot leave the Church because of this disarray.
For me, this is a lesson, because as I have always said, everything we see around us, the circumstances, the situations, good or bad, are a school, and we must learn from it.
RICH: Do you keep singing and playing the instruments after this haste?
HUBERT: Listen Rich, I’m not in the church for people, no one had called me, but it’s God. Therefore, I will do what God tells me to do.
If that were so, we would already have broken relations with everyone. I am and remain an effective member of the Praise Team.
This comforts me even more because I know the people I am dealing with.
In Swahili, they say: Nguvu mpya (New power), Kasi mpya (new speed), akili mpya (new intelligence) ”.
If you ask the person who invented the light bulb, how many times it failed, the man will tell you that he had never failed, but he was looking for other ways to succeed.
You know, God was and still is intelligent, when He said in the Bible, ” Let’s make man … ” It had the sense of collaboration, and that does not mean that he was incapable of creating man alone, no! He just wanted to teach us how to collaborate.

YOUR PROJECT…

HUBERT: Before talking about my project, I will tell you my vision and my plan.
My vision is to reach at least 80% of Christian world by my music, do not be surprised, what is difficult for men, is easy to God. I understand one thing in this company, you will agree with me. A musician is more listened to than a Preacher. If we can agree to do a survey with you, to know how many have predications in their phones and how many have songs in their memory cards, you will agree with me that only few have predications in their laptops.
There are still villages today where the use of the remote control is not yet in place, they do not know anything, I apologize for that, but these people, it takes a way to reach them!
I have chosen to sing in Foreign Languages, such as English, French, Swahili, and Lingala, why not in Portuguese or Spanish.
The problem with our local languages is that they are very limited.
Let me tell you about Bible Marketing, or a system of evangelization traced by Jesus Christ Himself. He preached in a language that was not his, he went from village to village preaching in the same language, it did not give the task difficult to translators.
We must fulfill the Word of the Bible that says I quote: “This good word of the gospel will be preached throughout the world … to be a testimony”
This is only possible with the multiplicity of languages.
RICH: what is your plan? What do you want to achieve?
HUBERT: A good question, Mr. Richard, I made a vow to the Lord, that, if He blessed me and I made albums, I would build him a Temple, if not totally, even rehabilitate not less than one, I will shelter orphans, I will help the needy.
When I talk about orphans, I know what I am talking about. I know what means, “Orphan”, how it feels to be without a parent, especially without a mother when you are still kid. I am a living witness myself.
My project is that, God help, and if I find a sponsor, I start to make albums and to spread the Gospel at a low price.
Richard, you know, there is one thing that needs to be brought to the light of everyone, because I know, people will ask me ” the gospel at a low price ”?
Yes, note that the Gospel is free, but evangelism is paid for.
